Trust Your Instinct: Unveiling the Secrets of Personal Safety and Empowerment for Men and Women

Posted on 23rd November 2022

If you're a man, you should read this book. If you're a woman, you should stop everything you're doing and buy it right now!

Because it explains in unambiguous terms why and, most importantly, ๐˜„๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ป you should listen and trust your instinct.

References to real-life examples and well-known dramatic stories will make you reframe some episodes in your life you couldn't decipher so far. In this book, you may find the pieces of the jigsaw you've missed.

It's a fascinating, intriguing, captivating non-light read which you won't forget - and that's precisely the purpose of the book.

My top reasons for recommending it:

- It helps you understand ๐—ต๐—ผ๐˜„ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚ ๐—ณ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ต๐—ผ๐˜„ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ด๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ฒ ๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—น๐˜€ that there's something wrong beyond the surface

- It's ๐—ฏ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—น๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜๐—น๐˜† ๐˜„๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐˜๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ป, you won't want to put it down

- Every key concept is contextualised, helping you

While everyone should read it, women cannot miss it. Predators, stalkers and violent individuals tend to show ๐˜€๐˜‚๐—ฏ๐˜๐—น๐—ฒ ๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—น๐˜€ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ถ๐—ฟ ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€ and being able to spot them on time can literally save our lives.

๐Ÿšจ Too often, I hear advice such as "push through your fears" without contextualising it and defining the boundaries of this attitude.

In a dangerous context pushing through our fears might lead to an avoidable tragedy.

โ›” The book helps to define those boundaries and ๐—ฐ๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ณ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐˜„๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐—ถ๐˜ ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜€ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐˜๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐˜€๐˜ ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜€๐˜๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐˜. I read it in 2015 and it left such an impression that I remember it as if I just read it (the power of storytelling and emotional rollercoasters! ๐Ÿ˜€).

The first takeaway that comes to mind is the use of the word "๐˜„๐—ฒ" that predators often make to lower the victim's guard.

Usually, the word "we" carries a sense of closeness that is very powerful. When we want to make someone else feel better we say things like "๐˜„๐—ฒ're in this together" or "don't worry, ๐˜„๐—ฒ'll sort it out", and so on.

Ill-intentioned people are aware of that and use it to achieve their goals. So when you hear someone using the word "๐˜„๐—ฒ" in a way that you "feel" is inappropriate and out of context, be extra careful and remain alert. Look for signs of congruency between actions and words.

Give this book a go, but avoid reading it before bed. After the first few pages, you'll understand why!

๐Ÿ“– And if you have teenage kids, teach them what you'll learn so they can be better equipped to face the world. So... are you giving it a go? Or perhaps you've read it, already? If so, what's your key takeaway?
